Sinhala & Tamil New Year (Aluth Avurudda / Puththandu)
Wednesday, 14 April 2027 — 185 days away, at the exact solar ingress of 15:28 (Sri Lanka Standard Time).
This is the same astronomical moment — the Sun’s ingress into Mesha (Aries) — that Tamil New Year (Puththandu) marks; the two are celebrated together nationally. Auspicious-time (nekath) rituals around the New Year follow the annually published Nekath Seettuwa, which this site does not yet carry.
